About the Book- Wrong Place Wrong Time by Gillian McAllister

Can you stop a murder after it’s already happened?

It is midnight on the morning of Halloween, and Jen anxiously waits up for her 18-year-old son, Todd, to return home. But worries about his broken curfew transform into something much more dangerous when Todd finally emerges from the darkness. As Jen watches through the window, she sees her funny, seemingly happy teenage son stab a total stranger.

She doesn’t know who the victim is, or why Todd has committed such a devastating act of violence. All she knows is that her life, and Todd’s, have been shattered.

After her son is taken into custody, Jen falls asleep in despair. But when she wakes up… it is yesterday. The murder has not happened yet—and there may be a chance to stop it. Each morning, when Jen wakes, she is further back in the past, first weeks, then years, before the murder. And Jen realizes that somewhere in the past lies the trigger for Todd’s terrible crime…and it is her mission to find it, and prevent it from taking place.

Banter can hide the worst sins. Some people laugh to hide their shame, they laugh instead of saying I feel embarrassed and small.

Our Review of Wrong Place Wrong Time by Gillian McAllister

I do see the appeal of the book. I totally do. But the fact is that to see this appeal, it takes an awful lot of time. I mean I have read slow-burn thrillers but this is more like charred. Well if the book hadn’t turned out the way it had in the end my review of the book would have been completely opposite. I was completely set to go against the book and then the climax of the book happened and changed the game because till then I was sort of expecting the book to head in some other direction.

I had this book on audio and even on accelerated speed the book felt slow and just roaming around. The readers, just as the female lead, are for more than a major part of the book, roaming around trying to piece around everything that is happening. I mean I get the central character not knowing anything in this book but even readers roaming around blindly is a bit weird.

The book only picks up at the very end of the book and by that time you are exhausted having been on a long journey, trying to make ounces of clues out of nothing. But when the pieces fall together it is almost a 360 and you start going back to all the things trying to see everything now in a new light…. (if that makes sense)

Conclusion

So in conclusion, this book is a test of patience. At least for me, it was. Fortunately, I was rewarded in the end. I feel that maybe the fans of the book may have been caught off guard by the final plot twists and that’s what perhaps led them to finally give that thumbs up for the book. I am also following the lead. The book is slower than slow burn but the way everything converges and unravels is amazing. So now it is your call to pick up or listen to the book or simply just ask what happens at the end to someone who has read it 😛 Oh no! Don’t look at me! if I sat through all those long hours in the book to find out the twist I am not giving that away easily.
