A Priscilla Presley biopic

We all have heard Elvis’s story but it is time to hear his wife’s story. That is exactly what Sofia Coppola is doing with her new movie, Priscilla. The movie is based on Priscilla Presley’s memoir, Elvis and Me which she had written back in 1985.

While Priscilla is nervous about how people will take on her story, Sofia Coppola feels it is time that the world hears about Priscilla’s version.

The movie is also facing a bit of a problem as Coppola tells Hollywood Reporter that she couldn’t get access to some of Elvis’s songs in the movie as the company refused the rights. According to her the company that holds on to the rights to King’s music

“don’t like projects that they haven’t originated, and they’re protective of their brand. But that made us more creative”.

She is hinting at the fact that her husband Thomas Mars is doing the music for the film where he would be using covers and works of his band Phoenix

The movie will have Cailee Spaeny playing the role of Priscilla and Jacob Elordi as Elvis. The movie under the A24 banner is preparing for its Venice International Film Festival debut on Sept 7 after which it will be released theatrically on Oct 27

So are you looking forward to Priscilla Presley’s Story? or do you feel you would go for the original memoir “Elvis and Me” rather than the movie?
