About the Book- Once Upon a Broken Heart

How far would you go for happily ever after?

For as long as she can remember, Evangeline Fox has believed in true love and happy endings…until she learns that the love of her life will marry another.

Desperate to stop the wedding and to heal her wounded heart, Evangeline strikes a deal with the charismatic but wicked Prince of Hearts. In exchange for his help, he asks for three kisses, to be given at the time and place of his choosing.

But after Evangeline’s first promised kiss, she learns that bargaining with an immortal is a dangerous game—and that the Prince of Hearts wants far more from her than she’d pledged. He has plans for Evangeline, plans that will either end in the greatest happily ever after or the most exquisite tragedy….

The book is basically like a wild car chase. Just when you think you are on it, it diverts and leaves you behind once again. So now again you are on a chase to catch it, running through alleys and paths that are known yet looks different mid chase.

Our Review of Once upon a broken heart

This book is a mystery and I don’t mean just the genre. The book in general is mysterious and very hard to explain. Even if I try to summarise the book, I would find it hard because I felt that’s how the book is. There is so much going on and yet somehow everything kind of falls into places and make sense. Although it still remains one giant puzzle as to what exactly is this book. It is like an amalgamation of a lot of stories and yet a new story in itself. I don’t think I will be able to explain what I felt reading this book but I am going to still try.

Imagine everything major and exciting from all the supernatural and fantasy books you have read. Now add them all in one giant pot and stir it well. Add a base ingredient that could hold all of these together and voila you get Once upon a broken heart. The book is tricky because it makes you believe that you can see the story track from far but then it completely turns 360 and leaves you wondering what just happened. Just when you think you know what will happen, the book completely changes its narrative and goes on a completely different path.

The book is basically like a wild car chase. Just when you think you are on it, it diverts and leaves you behind once again. So now again you are on a chase to catch it, running through alleys and paths that are known yet looks different mid chase. Don’t get fooled by the book synopsis because it has only got about 10% of the actual allure of the book. This book has got everything that you have read and loved in your fantasy books. Deal with the Devil, magical kiss, Ballroom dancing, Prince Charming sweeping off your feet, Prince charming climbing up the wall to meet you, Dungeons, Wizardry, evil stepmother, magic, gods, curses, potions, vampires, beasts.. oh man…. Now, do you see what I meant when I said that the book has got every ingredient from every fantasy book you have read?

The book is brilliant because the book is so tricky in the narrative that it keeps you on your toes. Nothing is predictable. So much is happening that it is hard to see where it will lead. This also reminds me of the ending…😱 Cliffhangers has got nothing on this book. The way the book ended made me pull my hair. ( So cruel 😥) It leaves at such a major juncture that I felt I may have had an incomplete copy of the book. Also, it was later that I realised ( after reading more on the book ) that the book was actually set in the world of CARAVAL, Stephanie Garber’s other book … how cool is that 😮

Conclusion

Even if you have had too many fantasy books, this would still leave your head spinning. The book is like the best of every fantasy book. That is why this book is a major book goal because it just keeps you guessing and heaving while it moves to bigger and bigger things. You can’t catch a breath because this book throws a lot of stuff at you and keeps you fully occupied. It is brilliant in its imagery and conception and the way it mixed and matched everything to create something new and so magical. You have got to read this
