The Last Goodbye by Fiona Lucas

About the Book- The Last Goodbye

Poignant, hopeful, and full of emotional power, an unforgettable story in the vein of P.S. I Love You about two people learning to love again after great loss, perfect for fans of Jojo Moyes and Josie Silver.

How can you move on if you can’t let go?

Spencer was the love of Anna’s life: her husband, her best friend, her rock. She thought their love would last forever.

But three years ago, Spencer was tragically killed in an accident and Anna’s world was shattered. How can she ever move on, when she’s lost her soulmate?

On New Year’s Eve Anna calls Spencer’s phone number, just to hear his old voicemail greeting. But to her shock, someone answers…

Brody has inherited Spencer’s old number and is the first person who truly understands what Anna’s going through. As her and Brody’s phone calls become lengthier and more frequent, they begin opening up to each other—and slowly rediscover how to smile, how to laugh, even how to hope.

But Brody hasn’t been entirely honest with Anna. Will his secret threaten everything, just as it seems she might find the courage to love again?

Reading this book, made me realize or rather educated me on how everybody must not feel like moving on and they are perfectly happy in doing so too.

Our Review of The Last Goodbye

Ok. To be honest, I had a whole lot of issues with the female lead. From the beginning, she just rubbed me off wrong. Her actions and behaviour didn’t make sense to me only to realise that’s exactly what the book was trying to achieve. The book is a mirror on us and our perception of how people should grieve and how it is totally unjustified.

The book deals with grief and death. More like how the bereaved get affected and stuck without being able to move on and how society put pressure on them to move on quickly but also within a whole lot of boundaries. Reading this book, made me realize or rather educated me on how everybody must not feel like moving on and they are perfectly happy in doing so too.

I think the book is a brilliant outlook on how different people are at different wavelengths when it comes to dealing with grief and death and along with opening our eyes, the book also throws light on various aspects of relationships too

Conclusion

In conclusion, the book is a brilliant take on the heavy topic of grief and dealing with loss. Do not get me wrong, the book doesn’t teach or show you the correct way to grieve. in fact, the book tells us that there is no correct method to do so. To each their own.Period.
