So we are venturing into something that is not our usual forte but this news was too good for us to let go. Kamala Khan. Are you aware of that name? if not let us brief you. Kamala Khan is the character name of Marvel’s first Muslim woman superhero Ms Marvel. You know like ..Kamala Khan by the day and Ms Marvel by night. Like Peter Parker and Spiderman. Like Bruce Wayne and Batman. Ok you get the picture ..right? So hold on while we try to figure it out and wrap our heads around it.
But any comic enthusiast would vouch that nothing stays dead in the comic world forever, especially Marvel Universe. So now there is news that the star herself is going to pen new series for Ms Marvel series
In case you might have noticed Ms Marvel Comics had got its screen adaptation recently starring Iman Vellani as its title character. While Season 2 has received its green light but whose future is blurry owing to the writer’s strike, the comic universe on the other side, had received a major hit.
Earlier this year, in the comic Amazing Spider-Man #26, Ms Marvel ( well the character) sacrifices her life. The character ends and even got a special dedicated issue in Fallen Friend: The Death of Ms. Marvel. This was a major shock to Marvel fans who had to bear the news of their beloved superhero’s death. But any comic enthusiast would vouch that nothing stays dead in the comic world forever, especially Marvel Universe. So now there is news that the star herself is going to pen new series for Ms Marvel series where we will see the resurrection of the character
Confused? Brain exploding? feel the earth shaking in chaos? Trust us when we say that we too had to settle down to let all this seep in.
So basically in layman’s terms what we are saying is that the actor who plays the role of Ms Marvel (Iman Vellani) will be venturing into a new role of writer in real life as she is set to write the story for the new resurrected issues of Ms Marvel.
Vellani in an interview with Entertainment Weekley says ” This was way scarier than joining the MCU for me. I’ve never written anything before in my entire life, but I have read many comics, so I just wrote what I would want to read. I was given a very professional tool to write what is essentially my fan fiction.”
The new comic would be titled Ms Marvel: The New Mutant. and as the name suggests will see the superhero as a mutant. So what is exciting and a bit of a surprising twist for us is the fact that the star of the Disney+ show would herself take on the dual role of playing and writing the character of Ms Marvel.
