About the Book- Redeemed by Lauren Asher

Santiago Alatorre
One mistake destroys my career.
I go from most eligible bachelor to monster, hiding from the world.
At least until Chloe breaks into my home.
My new fake girlfriend is a temporary fix to my biggest problem.
But as our game changes, so do my feelings.
There’s only one issue stopping me from claiming her.
Me.

Chloe Carter
It all started with a birthday wish, some vodka, and an ancestry kit.
That’s how I end up in Italy, finding my long-lost father.
But one decision lands me a fake boyfriend I don’t want.
The more we pretend, the easier our ruse becomes.
I told myself not to fall in love with a liar like Santiago.
I should have listened.

Redeemed is a steamy standalone in the Dirty Air world.

Our Review of Redeemed by Lauren Asher

Had this book differed in its treatment even by an inch, from what it is now, I think this book would have been just another YA romance and I would probably have been ranting in this review. But surprisingly I fell in love with the book because, even with all the cliche plot elements, it still turned out to be a sweet book. The book is your usual sunshine girl meets Mr grumpy Troupe but the way the book gives these characters such a good base and character arcs, makes it different and easy to indulge in.

I think the best thing the book did was to take time to let the characters settle down. The readers have a chance to meet and learn about who they are and where they come from. Usually in the genre, the books are way too in a hurry to get the romance track started… which I understand as everyone who picks up the book does come for the romance but sometimes the rush cheats us of knowing who the central characters are properly. Naturally, as the romance progresses, we fail to understand the actions and their behaviours. I think maybe that is the reason why this book worked for me. I loved how Both the characters were given enough space to tell their individual story before their actual “togetherness” started.

It’s funny that I actually could see and relate to why Mr. Grumpy is grumpy and why our sunshine girl is so….cheery. The plot gives out these character arcs nicely without pushing it too much onto the readers. Also, the book doesn’t hover over romance. It is given its space to breathe while the book deals with the character traits rather than “romantic” scenes. I think that does wonders because the emotional aspects play much more effectively than forcefully bringing characters together for a “cute” scene.

I thought the plot treatment of an otherwise cliche plot was fabulous because even with this overly used plot, the book wows with its charm and that makes it an adorable and charming read without being too cheesy…. Well ok, the epilogues and ends were way too cheesy but I will take it considering that the whole book was such a beautiful journey of two characters dealing with their own “issues” individually and together.

Conclusion

In conclusion, and if it hasn’t been clear from all my praises, Redeemed has truly redeemed itself by picking a ubiquitous plot by focusing on treating and narrating it with more substance and charm than others. So in short it was a charming read.
