I Think He Knows by Katie Bailey (Donovan Family #2)

About the Book- I Think He Knows

I fell in love with Carter James Callahan’s smart-mouthed smirk long before it was labeled “The Sexiest Smile In Hollywood”. I also fell for his broad, muscular shoulders, his impossibly blue eyes, his… Nope! Not going there anymore. Because while Carter may frequent my dreams every night, I will only ever frequent his friend zone. Which is why I’m on an official mission to rid myself of my pesky feelings for him—I’m gonna put myself out there, start dating, and stop hopelessly crushing on my best friend. Deep down, I know this is for the best. It would never work between I’m a single mom with an impressive collection of stained sweatpants, he’s a serial-dating celeb heartthrob who never wants to be tied down to anything or anyone. So when the media breaks a story that Carter is getting married, nobody is more shocked than I am. Especially when I click on the article and see that his mysterious fiancée is… me?!

The reason why I loved the first book was because that setting was relatively different and new for me so it was something interesting but since friends to lovers trope was a well-explored one, I kind of was prejudiced as to how it would all go.

Our Review of I Think He Knows by Katie Bailey

I think I love the first book more 😛 but yes I did love the sequel which centered more on the sister and her romance which we had a bit of a sneak peek in the first book. So I did enjoy this book but I am leaning more towards the first book compared to this one.

The book is a friends-to-lovers story and you can see the dynamics between these two characters from the get-go. You are kind of pulled into their relationship but you have to admit that things are pretty cliche when it comes down to it. Sorry I know I am being a spoilt sport but this book came to me at a point when I had listened to rom-coms in a stretch and could narrow it down to the t’s and i’s as to what exactly would happen in the book. It is not the fault of the book, it is a me thing. I was suffering from “Rom-com saturation”. But even then I was actually into the book and thought it was cute and charming.

So ignoring my rants, the basic thing is that the book is everything that you would get in a usual rom-com. Easy, cute, charming and fluffy little romance filled with cute friends and family members to keep it more adorable. I loved the guest appearances of the characters from the first book. The family element or rather the Donovan sibling dynamics is the biggest attraction of this book. When this family get together for any scene, it is candyfloss and unicorn-level sweet

Conclusion

So in conclusion, I would say that if you want a sweet little rom-com for that relaxing read, then this book will absolutely seal the deal. It has everything that you would expect and love in this genre. My only problem was the same it had all the usuals. It is a sweet, quick and easy little chocolate read.
