Before We Fall by Aurora Rose Reynolds

About the Book- Before We Fall by Aurora Rose Reynolds

Tucker Beckett and I likely never would have met if our spouses weren’t having an affair.

Newly divorced with a young son to raise Tucker Beckett is the last man Miranda Owens should be itching to figure out, to make smile, and hear laugh. Still there is something about the detective with haunted blue eyes and a dirty mouth that draws her in from the moment they meet.

If only life were so simple.

As Tucker and Miranda begin to navigate their new relationship, Tucker is tasked with solving the murder of a young woman, while their ex’s begin to play games in an attempt to split the two of them up.

Before they fall , these two will need to figure out if the only thing tying them together is the circumstances that brought them together in the first place or if it’s something more.

Love isn’t complicated but sometimes life is.

Goodreads Page

“I did not, and still do not, believe that if God were amongst us today, he would approve of the way humankind has continued to use his name to profit off people who are looking for something to believe in that is bigger than themselves.”

Our Review of Before We Fall by Aurora Rose Reynolds

I did love the book. No doubt about it. but I can’t help the feeling that the book missed out on a lot of potential that it had. This is the reason why I felt that the book couldn’t become an amazing romantic thriller but just an okay romance book. The book had so much to work with but unfortunately, it majorly had its focus on the romance portion. The romance was good but I did feel that it was sort of quickly cooked as considering the situation these two central characters meet and the way circumstances develop, the pace at which the romance blooms was a bit hard for me to digest.

As I said, the book is good but my major issue with the book is that there was an actual thriller-infused plot in the background and I kept wondering when it would get picked up and apparently in all the romance drama, it never got its due credit. If the book had worked on that parallel plot, the book would have been so much worth the fun. Right now it lingers on the drama area when it has the whole sibling angles, and police force action, and an investigation track which was all overlooked. I mean the book had so many potential elements.

The pace, and narration of the book are all good, the romance is more physically based and I believe you can read between the lines as to what I am saying. I felt the romance was cliche and without much emotional chemistry but more of its physical chemistry but yes it does get the job done.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I would say that the book is good for a quick romance read but the thing is that the book could have been so much more than that as there is a brilliant plot hidden in the book that it chose to ignore and that nagged me the whole time. As a regular romance with a bit of intense drama and a lot of physical love, the book does provide us with an interesting read.
