The Caller(Robert Hunter #8) by Chris Carter

About the Book- The Caller

The terrifying new thriller from the Sunday Times bestselling author of I AM DEATH.

After a tough week, Tanya Kaitlin is looking forward to a relaxing night in, but as she steps out of her shower, she hears her phone ring.  The video call request comes from her best friend, Karen Ward.  Tanya takes the call and the nightmare begins.

Karen is gagged and bound to a chair in her own living room.  If Tanya disconnects from the call, if she looks away from the camera, he will come after her next, the deep, raspy, demonic voice at the other end of the line promises her.

As Hunter and Garcia investigate the threats, they are thrown into a rollercoaster of evil, chasing a predator who scouts the streets and social media networks for victims, taunting them with secret messages and feeding on their fear.

Our Review of The Caller

Continuing my reading spree of the Robert Hunter Series, I have finished the eighth book in the series. Just as its predecessor, the book throws yet another smashing and mind-blowing thriller that sends chills down the spine even trying to envision the scenarios of the plot. The plot was pretty engaging, I was floored by the end twist which was quite genius and kind of surprising. Well that is the point of the book …right? To keep you on your toes. Well, mission accomplished.

The whole murder spree was in the same fashion as its prequel. Gruesome, horrifying. Is it weird that the violence in the series is becoming kind of normal for me to read? I feel I am getting more and more desensitised to the horrors shown in the book 😛 The eighth book has kept its brilliance shining and radiating. Seriously I am running out of words to explain and appreciate the book. After all, it’s the eighth book and that in itself should be a testament to the fact that I am enjoying the series.

The reason why despite the horrors that come with the book, it is such a good read is that the story has a natural flow of events and the MC with his keen insights adds so much more value to the plot. The kind of twisty mind and perception the book shows is kind of scary and fun to see. The book has a good pace and the narration has an ease to it which makes it perfectly immersive and fun to read.

Conclusion

As I keep repeating, the series is pretty intense and pretty sinister to keep your insides from churning but at the same time, the fact is that the book delivers an engaging read that makes it a thorough page-turner and addictive. Well, all you need to do is look past the horrors and blood 😛
