Our Review of Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi

Did I enjoy the book? Yes, I did. Did I love the book? Nope. I admit that I was coming back to the series after a long time but one thing that hasn’t changed for me is how much I am pulled towards Aaron. If anybody asks me why I read the series then the only answer is AARON WARNER. This is the only thing that kept me going throughout the series.

I must have mentioned in the first book review, that somehow I found the antagonist ( Warner) more alluring than the couple and the protagonist of the book. The girl still irritates me and the character of Adam was like a bug from the very first book as I never liked or saw his impact in the plot except for being a whiny toddler. This book explored more of this irritating nature of Adam but fortunately, we don’t have to bear much as I feel Ignite Me was more of a Warner show and WHAT A SHOW !!

Also, I think Kenji is another character that is trying to give a competition with my love for Aaron because the character evolution of Kenji has been amazing. His presence in the book just brings a smile and a breath of fresh air.

For me, the issue with Ignite Me is that the book is 80% all dialogues, emotions, monologues, and teenage relationship drama. That is all ok and understandable but when it becomes the only thing in the book, then it is completely annoying. 80% of exploring relationship drama was too much for me as I wanted to see more events and story plot than sitting around a bunker and just having a session

The biggest grace, however, is Aaron. The book just brings this amazing creature in its glory giving so many amazing moments. If the book didn’t have Aaron, Ignite Me would have been a complete miss for me.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I would say that this is one of those books that held me because of the character even though it had nothing else to offer. The book as I mentioned is all monologues and fewer events. If you loved Aaron Warner and wanted a moment of Juliet and Aaron, then this book delivers with a bang but I felt apart from that the book didn’t have much to share and that is also why I am not too keen on picking the next in series.
