About the Book-The Collector by Nora Roberts

From #1 New York Times-bestselling author Nora Roberts comes a novel of a woman who needs nothing, a man who sees everything, and the web of deceit, greed, and danger that brings them together—and could tear them apart . . .

When professional house-sitter Lila Emerson witnesses a murder/suicide from her current apartment-sitting job, life as she knows it takes a dramatic turn. Suddenly, the woman with no permanent ties finds herself almost wishing for one. . . .

Artist Ashton Archer knows his brother isn’t capable of violence—against himself or others. He recruits Lila, the only eyewitness, to help him uncover what happened. Ash longs to paint her as intensely as he hungers to touch her. But their investigation draws them into a rarified circle where priceless antiques are bought, sold, gambled away, and stolen, where what you possess is who you are, and where what you desire becomes a deadly obsession.

Our Review of The Collector by Nora Roberts

This is the first time that I have picked up a Nora Roberts thriller and I think I would call it a cosy mystery. Yes definitely the plot is interesting with plot twists and turns but I would rather say that the book is more about our female character who gets caught up in a situation unknowingly and in the process also stumbles upon a potential suitor aka our male lead. So rather than a thriller I would say it is more a romance with undertones of a mystery that even though keeps the plot exciting doesn’t go deeper enough to complicate.

The narration and flow of the story show why the author is best with her skills. The book flows smoothly and nicely with enough turns and twists to keep things exciting. As I mentioned, the book travels through a whodunit track but doesn’t stay there or explore more of it. So you don’t have to sit down with your crime boards and threads to track the leads. The book focuses more on a practical aspect of what if one stumbles upon a crime and unwittingly gets caught in the web of a larger game without many resources. So in that manner, the book excels in keeping it practical and simpler. The book focuses majorly on romance.

So I would say that THE COLLECTOR by Nora Roberts is more an exploration of the relationship/love interest between the main two characters and how they deal with the circumstances thrown at them. Although on a personal level, I am seriously scared for the female lead as the guy does exhibit some scary and questionable traits which seemed all red. But then these are quite subjective and perspective but yes otherwise it is a cosy mystery worth picking up if you want to read a book that won’t demand your grey cells much yet give you a bit of challenge. This would probably appeal more to people who love romance and less to those who are seeking a chase around the world, adrenaline-fueled thriller.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I would say that if you are looking for a light, fun with a bit of thrill, then this book is perfect. It is a cosy mystery which means you don’t have to keep track of easter eggs and puzzle pieces as things are kept simple and easy to follow. Plus what the book offers is more of a romance read so the book is more of a romantic cosy mystery.
