About the Book- Trouble by Samantha Towle

Mia Monroe is running. Running from a person she doesn’t ever want to find her. Running from a past she doesn’t ever want anyone to know. Desperate to find a future, that yesterday, she could only dream of having.

Jordan Matthews likes easy. Easy women. Easy life.

Then he meets Mia.

She’s damaged, troubled and has more baggage than any person can carry. But the more Jordan gets to know Mia-for the first time in his life-he finds himself wanting to try hard for something … for someone … for her.

And then life isn’t so easy anymore.

Jordan is everything Mia shouldn’t want. A whole bunch of dirty hotness, tattooed, cocky bad boy, who made his money at poker tables and picked his women up in bars. Yet, Mia finds herself falling for him. Then the past Mia was running from, quickly starts to catch up with her. Because that’s the problem with running … you have to stop sometime.

And when you stop, you get caught.

“Sometimes that’s all it takes. Just one person to turn everything on its head. Remind you of the person you were.”

Our Review of Trouble by Samantha Towle

The trouble with Trouble by Samantha Towle is that it started great, intense, and highly volatile but then towards the second half it kind of calmed down but not in a good way. Perhaps it is me. I had the book on audio and the beginning of the book was so on spot. The tone of the narrator wasn’t exactly the best as somehow it came out as our central character was too bored of everything that was happening to her that she was sort of wavering numb through everything. So naturally with that tone, when the romance portion came, it was more like …..MEHHHH , one another thing to deal with. Strangely enough I thought that the romance picked up at the flick of the page. This to me was a bit weird considering that the characters were destined to have their issues with a serious relationship. But apparently, everything is fine with just one night out. That was a bit hard for me to digest.

Technically if you ask me the book isn’t bad at all. I don’t know whether it was the audiobook, whether it was me or in general the book lacked that extra mile which could have brought out the flavour. I couldn’t help feeling that the book seriously was lacking something. Like maybe one ingredient that could have made it more interesting? The book in the first half was leading to a different location ( at least to me) but when the romance came into play, all of a sudden the characters seemed to behave and sound differently.

Conclusion

For me, Trouble by Samantha Towle was an ok read but one which I wished had something else to it. Maybe a bit more into the romance, maybe a bit more into character development. I am not exactly sure what, but the book felt not reaching the mark where it could have been an engaging, angsty, intense, emotional and romantic read. But it is not totally bad too. just an average one for me. ( Damn that sounds so rude!!)
