Book Review : Wonder Woman: Warbringer (DC Icons #1) by Leigh Bardugo

Well this is not exactly the  Gal Gadot movie where Whipping golden lasso just brightens the screen. Still Leigh bardugo’s inception of iconic Wonder Woman  is amazing . Of course for the community and crazy fans of Wonder Woman genre may beg to differ with me. To be honest I loved the book and inspite of me trying to compare it with the Wonder Woman movie I still enjoyed the book.

Wonder WomanWonder Woman: Warbringer Official Synopsis

Daughter of immortals.

Princess Diana longs to prove herself to her legendary warrior sisters. But when the opportunity finally comes, she throws away her chance at glory and breaks Amazon law—risking exile—to save a mortal. Diana will soon learn that she has rescued no ordinary girl, and that with this single brave act, she may have doomed the world.

Daughter of death.

Alia Keralis just wanted to escape her overprotective brother with a semester at sea. She doesn’t know she is being hunted by people who think her very existence could spark a world war. When a bomb detonates aboard her ship, Alia is rescued by a mysterious girl of extraordinary strength and forced to confront a horrible truth: Alia is a Warbringer—a direct descendant of the infamous Helen of Troy, fated to bring about an age of bloodshed and misery.

Two girls will face an army of enemies—mortal and divine—determined to either destroy or possess the Warbringer. Tested beyond the bounds of their abilities, Diana and Alia must find a way to unleash hidden strengths and forge an unlikely alliance. Because if they have any hope of saving both their worlds, they will have to stand side by side against the tide of war.

Wonder Woman: Warbringer  RWAT Take

You need a bit time with the book to come to terms with everything that is happening but don’t worry as the quick pace and the amazing story narration keeps this book a joyous experience. One of the best things about the book is its ability to absorb the readers into the plot. Initially everything needed a bit time to settle in but as the book proceeded, the book just went on to become more and more engaging and an amazing ride.

There are three things to look out in the book. A superbly crafted plot line with interesting turns that keeps the book interesting and thrilling. Secondly, the narration and story telling technique. Third and the most important factor being the affable and enjoyable characters that you can enjoy and travel along with without being bored. I loved the comic peek-ins that could create a laugh riot even in between intense scenes

For crazy DC comics fan. i am not sure what you would expect from the book. But for someone as newbie and book maniac, this is an enjoyable read in all levels. Its fast, thrilling, funny and exciting. Everything that i would need in my book
