Book Review : Wicked Fox by Kat Cho (Gumiho #1)

There were a lot of people who felt that Wicked Fox was not upto the mark. But for me, being a true blood, kdrama addict, this book was a book form of all the Kdramas, that i have loved. So i simply loved the book and that cover is what topped it all for me.

Wicked Fox Official Synopsis

A fresh and addictive fantasy-romance set in modern-day Seoul.

Eighteen-year-old Gu Miyoung has a secret–she’s a gumiho, a nine-tailed fox who must devour the energy of men in order to survive. Because so few believe in the old tales anymore, and with so many evil men no one will miss, the modern city of Seoul is the perfect place to hide and hunt.

But after feeding one full moon, Miyoung crosses paths with Jihoon, a human boy, being attacked by a goblin deep in the forest. Against her better judgment, she violates the rules of survival to rescue the boy, losing her fox bead–her gumiho soul–in the process.

Jihoon knows Miyoung is more than just a beautiful girl–he saw her nine tails the night she saved his life. His grandmother used to tell him stories of the gumiho, of their power and the danger they pose to humans. He’s drawn to her anyway.

With murderous forces lurking in the background, Miyoung and Jihoon develop a tenuous friendship that blossoms into something more. But when a young shaman tries to reunite Miyoung with her bead, the consequences are disastrous . . . forcing Miyoung to choose between her immortal life and Jihoon’s.

Wicked Fox RWAT Take

If not drowned inside a book, you will find me, with a tub of popcorn, binge watching Kdramas. I am one of those weirdos you would see screaming abuses or even crying along with a drama scene especially if it is a Kdrama. If it was a popular romance Kdrama, I have seen it, binge watched it on repeat so naturally Wicked Fox was a slice of heaven in form of book for me.

I loved everything about the book, The cover. (Oh my god !!! that cover ..take me to heaven now..) The plot, the characters, the folklore even the letters. I loved everything about the book. It was my guilty pleasure and would re read it again and again. It is full of pink unicorns and candies 😛

The book deals with not so frequently dealt with theme. Gumiho. (Nine Tailed Fox). There is even a very famous Kdrama on it. So the folklore in itself is something that one can look forward too but its the romance that is to die for. It is sweetest and fluffiest, the one that makes you see candy floss and rainbow farting unicorns everywhere. The best part that it is not cringe worthy but very gentle and cute.

Conclusion

If these are not enough then the other fact is that the book is a very light and fast read and you can easily wrap up over a weekend reading session. I don’t know about others but the book definitely put me into a good mood instantly. I was seeing rainbows for days after reading it
