Book Review : To Kill a Kingdom by Alexandra Christo

Reading Time: 3 minutes

I truly didn’t had much expectations from this book but the moment I started reading this book, To Kill a Kingdom had hooked me completely and It wasn’t until I finished the book that I had breathed comfortable. The book completely caught me by surprise because I didn’t expect it to go on to become more and more enthralling

To Kill a Kingdom Official Synopsis

Princess Lira is siren royalty and the most lethal of them all. With the hearts of seventeen princes in her collection, she is revered across the sea. Until a twist of fate forces her to kill one of her own. To punish her daughter, the Sea Queen transforms Lira into the one thing they loathe most—a human. Robbed of her song, Lira has until the winter solstice to deliver Prince Elian’s heart to the Sea Queen or remain a human forever.

The ocean is the only place Prince Elian calls home, even though he is heir to the most powerful kingdom in the world. Hunting sirens is more than an unsavory hobby—it’s his calling. When he rescues a drowning woman in the ocean, she’s more than what she appears. She promises to help him find the key to destroying all of sirenkind for good—But can he trust her? And just how many deals will Elian have to barter to eliminate mankind’s greatest enemy?

To Kill a Kingdom by Alexandra Christo RWAT Take

I loved that the characters and plot were created in such a manner that it was not all about the romance. The book didn’t make it everything about romance but there was so much going on inside the plot that romance was just an added element.

The characters in the book are all created with a tint of grey so you don’t have to sit through and read about picture perfect people. The narration takes a bit time to start its true course but once it takes on its form then it is completely unstoppable.

Things pick up in the book only gradually and you have to kind of swim through the initial drafting and portrayal of the background plots and elements to land on the meat of the plot. Don’t worry about having to sit through the initial drafting because the book has all that is required to drag you into this fantasy story in all its beauty

Conclusion

The book is an amazing ride and absolutely worth the fun. Apart from the initial trouble to pick up the plot, the book absolutely sails through the plot so elegantly and impressively that there is no way you would get out of the book without finishing it
