Book Review : Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher

Now that I have both seen and read the book I see why there are both negative and positive reactions. I see why people may not like the treatment of book where it appears to be in support of teen suicides and at the same time why an entire group is out there who thinks that the book is powerful and one of a kind and should be read by everyone. I am not going to indulge into that debate. All I would say is that the theme and things said and portrayed in the book is fantastic and everyone should give it a try and what you take out of it should be an independent decision.

Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher- RWAT Take

Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay AsherLet’s begin with the book and later move on the series. When I was reading the book I would say I had required a bit of time because the flow of the book isn’t exactly the smoothest. Lets just say I have seen better ones. But then after initial chapters when things started getting heated up, I saw why people were falling for the book.

13 reasons why shows exactly that. 13 reasons why the character in the book decided to take her own life. So the entire book takes you through these thirteen reasons by revisiting everything that has happened to our female central character that eventually became the domino effect towards her death

The best part about the book is that it is not preachy or trying to educate. The book simply is narrating the events that happened in the life of our female character. It is through these events that the author tries to subtlety tell that every small actions has its consequences.

Now let’s come to the series

Should you watch the series or book ? I am a book lover so book takes priority always for me. But to be frank I think the series is fabulous and there is much more layer and depth in the series . Of course the book isn’t bad but I guess I found myself enjoying the series a little more

The book may not have the smoothest narration but trust me that once you start reading the book, you will forget everything as the plot gets thicker and thicker and events and story developments grabbing your attention fiercely . No matter what anyone says about the theme, no one will sent that the message was a really powerful one.
