Book Review: The Cousins by Karen M McManus

The cousins are more like the Famous Five modern-day incarnation. Man !! talk about a summer wherein you hangout and go revealing the biggest scandal ever? WOH talk about a fun summer. Although this is nothing like the innocent and softer Famous five. These cousins are not to be messed around and the family is even more messed up and crazy than an average chaotic family 😛 But in whole, The Cousins is one roller coaster ride with so many secrets spilling out

The Cousins Official Synopsis

Milly, Aubrey, and Jonah Story are cousins, but they barely know each another, and they’ve never even met their grandmother. Rich and reclusive, she disinherited their parents before they were born. So when they each receive a letter inviting them to work at her island resort for the summer, they’re surprised… and curious.

Their parents are all clear on one point—not going is not an option. This could be the opportunity to get back into Grandmother’s good graces. But when the cousins arrive on the island, it’s immediately clear that she has different plans for them. And the longer they stay, the more they realize how mysterious—and dark—their family’s past is.

The entire Story family has secrets. Whatever pulled them apart years ago isn’t over—and this summer, the cousins will learn everything.

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of One of Us Is Lying comes your next obsession. You’ll never feel the same about family again.

I had opted for the audiobook and not only is it chilling but the story has a way of clouding around you slowly and choking you up. It sneaks up on you. The second half was pretty eventful that things were happening so quickly and giving you whiplashes. But all in good ways. The plot is very engaging and amazingly crafted.

Its the narration that takes the cake. It slowly opens up to the major revelations and with multiple narrators, there are different perspectives and characteristics that get added to the narration.

Its is dark, it is engaging and have a pretty smooth flow to it and makes for a perfect read.
