Book Review: Swear on This Life by Renee Carlino

Swear on This Life definitely goes through a lot of ups and downs and the intensity is pretty high too. I guess in a way the book was able to paint a very natural or captivating story of two people coming together and being in a relationship

Swear on This Life Official Synopsis

Swear on This Life

When a bestselling debut novel from mysterious author J.Colby becomes the literary event of the year, Emiline reads it reluctantly. As an adjunct writing instructor at UC San Diego with her own stalled literary career and a bumpy long-term relationship, Emiline isn’t thrilled to celebrate the accomplishments of a young and gifted writer.

Yet from the very first page, Emiline is entranced by the story of Emerson and Jackson, two childhood best friends who fall in love and dream of a better life beyond the long dirt road that winds through their impoverished town in rural Ohio.

That’s because the novel is patterned on Emiline’s own dark and desperate childhood, which means that “J. Colby” must be Jase: the best friend and first love she hasn’t seen in over a decade. Far from being flattered that he wrote the novel from her perspective, Emiline is furious that he co-opted her painful past and took some dramatic creative liberties with the ending.

The only way she can put her mind at ease is to find and confront “J. Colby,” but is she prepared to learn the truth behind the fiction?

Swear on This Life RWAT Take

Swear on This Life

What is interesting about the book is the intensity with which it unfolds the story of these two people who grew up together . The book travels through the various ages of these two people and gradually showing the way how the bond between them grows and breaks

The book is definitely high on emotional content and attacking on the sensitive chords of our hearts. The story plot goes through a whole lot of ups and downs and it has moments that almost breaks you heart and then there are moments that are really cute and sweet.

What brought me to this book was definitely the trifling plot line and then it managed to keep me hooked to it throughout . The book goes through different ages and phases of the couple’s relationship and in my opinion had done a good job in keeping the strength and the power of narration throughout the book

I had loved the book and to me it was more than just a mere love story and was more of an insight into relationships
