Book review: Storm and Fury (The Harbinger #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Oh Its storm and fury alright ! Just watch me cook up a storm with fury because of picking up another book that had exactly the same thing to say. To the expressions, the clothes to even dialogues, letter by letter, word by word, Storm and fury is yet another copy of the usual Paranormal romance. The only difference is that instead of angels, fae, werewolf or vampire, we have Gargoyles. Yahhhh !! watch me bang my head in excitement on a wall 🙁

Storm and Fury Official Synopsis

Eighteen-year-old Trinity Marrow may be going blind, but she can see and communicate with ghosts and spirits. Her unique gift is part of a secret so dangerous that she’s been in hiding for years in an isolated compound fiercely guarded by Wardens—gargoyle shape-shifters who protect humankind from demons. If the demons discover the truth about Trinity, they’ll devour her, flesh and bone, to enhance their own powers.

When Wardens from another clan arrive with disturbing reports that something out there is killing both demons and Wardens, Trinity’s safe world implodes. Not the least because one of the outsiders is the most annoying and fascinating person she’s ever met. Zayne has secrets of his own that will upend her world yet again—but working together becomes imperative once demons breach the compound and Trinity’s secret comes to light. To save her family and maybe the world, she’ll have to put her trust in Zayne. But all bets are off as a supernatural war is unleashed…

Storm and Fury RWAT Take

Yet another YA paranormal that is so true to the template that you want to keep reading at the same time wanting to throw it away. I hated the cliche plots and characters but at the same time it was also a comfort zone but definitely wouldn’t keep in my top shelf of favourites. Confused? yeah I am a bit odd that way.

I don’t know is it me or in general the YA romances especially paranormal ones have started to look and sound the same ? Its like churned out in the same factory. Storm and fury except for a different background had nothing new to offer.

The book apart from being a mere reptition of all other YA romance, in individual capacity, has a good flow, language and story telling. Of course it would be because its from Jennifer L. Armentrout who gave us the Twilight with Aliens, Aka Obsidian.

I love the author because she has a magic spell with romance. She truly can give some amazing romance reads but the only trouble is that it has gone on to become monotonous with cliches plots and characters and dialogues

Conclusion

If you are already filled to the brim with Twilight wannabes and the boringly cliche YA romance. Stay away !! But at the same time it is your comfort zone or comfort read, then in that light, this book is fantastic and offers everything that is home to this genre. Painfully true to the genre.
