Book Review : Origin (Robert Langdon #5) by Dan Brown

Reading Time: 4 minutes

Hail the almighty author. He has done it again for me. Dan brown and Stephanie Meyer. These are the two authors who I consider as the main reason as to why I got into reading in the first place. It was twilight followed by Da Vinci code that flared the incline towards book for me. Dan brown books are nothing less of an encyclopaedia for me and that is why I am an avid fan of his work. It’s pure fun and exhilaration reading his work. Origin has well accomplished everything that one looks forward to in a dan brown book . I had waited so long to read this book and it was worth every second

Origin Official Synopsis

Robert Langdon, Harvard professor of symbology and religious iconology, arrives at the ultramodern Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao to attend a major announcement—the unveiling of a discovery that “will change the face of science forever.” The evening’s host is Edmond Kirsch, a forty-year-old billionaire and futurist whose dazzling high-tech inventions and audacious predictions have made him a renowned global figure. Kirsch, who was one of Langdon’s first students at Harvard two decades earlier, is about to reveal an astonishing breakthrough . . . one that will answer two of the fundamental questions of human existence.

As the event begins, Langdon and several hundred guests find themselves captivated by an utterly original presentation, which Langdon realizes will be far more controversial than he ever imagined. But the meticulously orchestrated evening suddenly erupts into chaos, and Kirsch’s precious discovery teeters on the brink of being lost forever. Reeling and facing an imminent threat, Langdon is forced into a desperate bid to escape Bilbao. With him is Ambra Vidal, the elegant museum director who worked with Kirsch to stage the provocative event. Together they flee to Barcelona on a perilous quest to locate a cryptic password that will unlock Kirsch’s secret.

Navigating the dark corridors of hidden history and extreme religion, Langdon and Vidal must evade a tormented enemy whose all-knowing power seems to emanate from Spain’s Royal Palace itself… and who will stop at nothing to silence Edmond Kirsch. On a trail marked by modern art and enigmatic symbols, Langdon and Vidal uncover clues that ultimately bring them face-to-face with Kirsch’s shocking discovery… and the breathtaking truth that has long eluded us.

Origin RWAT Take

Every Dan Brown book has a country central to it and because of which you get a free ticket to all the best places in the country that Brown chooses for his book to take place

Origin takes place in spain and majorly in Barcelona and what a journey the book has proved to be . The plot of the book tackles with yet another scientific question that baffles human minds . “Where do we (humans) come from and where are we going ?”
Note down that line because you are going to encounter that line like a hundred times in the book :p

Origin is well adorned with facts and trivia that would make your day. But do not worry about getting dragged down by the weight of all the trivia because it is seamlessly weaved into the plot and you would thoroughly enjoy going through them

The plot has a good pace and is absolutely entertaining . Though I am not exactly a fan of how the plot wrapped up in the end but I guess that can be a perspective thing. So I am going to leave discussing about it to avoid creating a spoiler
