One of the best things for me as a dweller of the book world is to watch some of my favourite books turn into movies. While some find the idea of their favourite books turning into a movie, completely repulsive, I believe there are people like me too who find the idea thrilling. I am always on a lookout for news on which of the popular books are getting a movie deal. Rumors are always high but only few manage to finally see the light of the day. Crazy Rich Asians
Kevin Kwan had written his satirical work, Crazy Rich Asians back in 2013 and it was an instant bestseller. The response was so good that the book even had two sequels, China Rich Girlfriend and Rich People Problem in 2015 and 2017 respectively. Now his hit series is getting a movie adaptation 2018 starring Constance Wu and directed by Jon M Chu.
Synopsis: When Rachel Chu agrees to spend the summer in Singapore with her boyfriend, Nicholas Young, she envisions a humble family home, long drives to explore the island, and quality time with the man she might one day marry. What she doesn’t know is that Nick’s family home happens to look like a palace, that she’ll ride in more private planes than cars, and that with one of Asia’s most eligible bachelors on her arm, Rachel might as well have a target on her back. Initiated into a world of dynastic splendor beyond imagination, Rachel meets Astrid, the It Girl of Singapore society; Eddie, whose family practically lives in the pages of the Hong Kong socialite magazines; and Eleanor, Nick’s formidable mother, a woman who has very strong feelings about who her son should–and should not–marry. Uproarious, addictive, and filled with jaw-dropping opulence, Crazy Rich Asians is an insider’s look at the Asian JetSet; a perfect depiction of the clash between old money and new money; between Overseas Chinese and Mainland Chinese; and a fabulous novel about what it means to be young, in love, and gloriously, crazilyrich.
The movie would have Constance Wu playing the role of Rachel Chu and Henry Golding taking on the role of Nick Young. After a long time, Michelle Yeoh will also be doing a Hollywood appearance as Eleanor Sung-Young, Nick’s Mother and Rachel’s soon to be mother-in Law.
Distributed by Warner Bros, the movie is set for release in August 15th2018 in United States and followed by a world wide release later.

Just as I had reported about The Hate you give movie happening, I had also gossiped about Jennifer Aniston joining the cast of Dumplin movie adaptation. Though the release date is yet to be confirmed. The book Dumplin’ by Julie Murphy was released back in 2015 and its sequel has just released this month as I had talked it in my may releases of 2018 article

Put a bikini on your body. With her all-American beauty best friend, Ellen, by her side, things have always worked…until Will takes a job at Harpy’s, the local fast-food joint. There she meets Private School Bo, a hot former jock. Will isn’t surprised to find herself attracted to Bo. But she is surprised when he seems to like her back.
Instead of finding new heights of self-assurance in her relationship with Bo, Will starts to doubt herself. So she sets out to take back her confidence by doing the most horrifying thing she can imagine: entering the Miss Clover City beauty pageant—along with several other unlikely candidates—to show the world that she deserves to be up there as much as any twiggy girl does. Along the way, she’ll shock the hell out of Clover City—and maybe herself most of all.
The movie adaptation is being directed by Anne Fletcher and stars Jennifer Aniston as Rosie Dickson, the mother and Danielle MacDonald as Willowdean “Dumplin” . If you are aware of the book, then you must also know that the book has a strong Dolly Parton presence and it is no surprise that the team of Dumplin has collaborated with Dolly Parton for the movie’s music Score. Though as of now no concrete release date has been out, it is said to be scheduled for an October release.

The girl in the spider’s web
While the fate of the rest of books in the original millennium series by Steig Larsson is unsure, it’s the fourth book that has got a movie adaptation. Steig Larsson’s posthumously published series was an instant hit and it was very difficult to match the original glory of Steig’s series but David Lagercrantz chose to take on the challenge. David had written The Girl in the spider’s web as a continuation of the series and the book is finally getting a movie deal
