Book Review: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling (Harry Potter, #2)

I am evidently the last person to arrive at a party. in my 30s i am starting out a series that the entire world had already read and even moved on. Yeah yeah mock me all you want. I am kind of a late bloomer at that. So yeah coming back to the second book in the series of the famous Harry potter, I loved it and can see the hype it has gathered.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Official Synopsis

“There is a plot, Harry Potter. A plot to make most terrible things happen at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry this year.”

Harry Potter’s summer has included the worst birthday ever, doomy warnings from a house-elf called Dobby, and rescue from the Dursleys by his friend Ron Weasley in a magical flying car! Back at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for his second year, Harry hears strange whispers echo through empty corridors – and then the attacks start. Students are found as though turned to stone… Dobby’s sinister predictions seem to be coming true.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets RWAT Take

The thing is also that, at this point probably i shouldn’t say anything bad about the series that is so loved and revered by the masses. Especially if i wish to stay alive to see my 40th birthday. I might be too old for the series and maybe the enthusiasm would be a little low and on the low burner but the series is fun and has a good appeal.

It goes without saying that as soon as i finished with the book, i had finished the reading experience with watching the movie. I am actually scared to anything about the book and which is why probably in this review you will only find me revolving round and round. Honestly what to say about a series that is in itself in a cult and religion. There would not be a single person out there who wouldn’t have heard about the series even if probably they haven’t read the series. What J.K. Rowling achieved with her book is  something that is wished by almost every writer out there. It is simply a dream almost impossible to reach the level she has achieved with her characters and the story.

Well since i can’t exactly leave the review without saying about the book. Here we go. I am too old for the book now but before you start gathering fellow potter heads and head towards my house to burn me alive, listen me out. What i meant was that though there is no doubt that i did love the book, somewhere i did keep feeling that perhaps the Harry Potter experience would have been different for me if i had picked this series a little earlier and not when i am closer to my retirement age.

To conclude. Yes people. All the hype around the book is true and the series does give you a wonderful experience but a word of advice that perhaps you should take on the series a little younger to be able to enjoy it in its full fantasy and not when your adult brain keeps interrupting all the magics with logics.
