Book Review:Charmcaster (Spellslinger#3) by Sebastien De Castell

Sebastien De Castell !, Did I ever tell you that you are a genius? Oh, I think I have ..right? In all the other reviews of this series 😛 I can’t help it but say it again and again that I am in love with this series for being funny. I mean genuinely funny and combine it with an action-packed story and I need nothing more to build that shrine. I just realised that the series has got the sixth book… God !! It has to be a blessing ..right? So far the series has maintained everything that I loved in the series, to begin with. As it progresses, the story and characters are all shaping up and growing, which is amazing. you don’t feel like you are going through the same thing again and again

CharmCaster Official Synopsis

The third book in the page-turning Spellslinger fantasy series.

‘I was getting almost as good at running away from enemies as I was at making them in the first place. Turns out, I wasn’t running nearly fast enough.’

Kellen has begun to master his spellslinging and the Argosi tricks for staying alive, and he and Reichis have found a career that suits them both: taking down mercenary mages who make people’s lives miserable. But Ferius is concerned that Kellen is courting disaster . . .

Perfect for fans of The Dark Tower, Firefly, Guardians of the Galaxy, Terry Pratchett, Ben Aaronovitch and Jim Butcher.

CharmCaster RWAT Take

What I love about the book is humour. Usually, to insert humour, they create a build-up to it and then gradually work up to the humour. But not this book. That’s the beauty of it. It pops up all of a sudden and the impact is so amazing that you can’t help but laugh like an idiot even though you are reading the book in a public place and you appear like a moron.

This series is the perfect breaker and mood booster for me. It instantly reminds me why I love reading good fiction. Why reading can be so fun. Each character in the book are so strong has such distinctive nature that you can pick them out from their dialogues even without mentioning their name. It is that strongly sketched. Either that or three books are long enough to know these characters

So if it hasn’t been clear yet then let me conclude that this book is AMAZING. The whole series is AMAZING. It is light and yet well strongly plotted. It is funny, at the same time enough to make you think too. It is purely entertaining and worth investing your time.
